Almost every day we hear of the death of someone, yet most people ignore the fact that one day they will die too, they go on with their life as if nothing has happened feeling that their time has not yet come for them to die. Allah says in the Qura’n “… Everyone shall taste death …” Al-Imran 185

Writing a will is a religious obligation on all Muslims in the west. If they fail to do so, they have all reason to fear that their estate/ treasure may not be distributed in accordance with the Islamic laws.

The main reasons given for not having an IslamicWill:
· It costs too much!
· Do I need a lawyer or can I do it myself?
· Where can I find a lawyer who understands both Sharia and the local laws?
· I don\'t have a lot of assets.
· My family understands how to distribute the inheritance!
· I am not sure what the Islamic requirements and the local requirements are?

IslamicWill offers a better alternative than trying to do it your self and not be sure if it is legally compliant. If the needs are beyond a basic IslamicWill, then a referral to a network of highly qualified lawyers in your area will be provided. Even if there are a few assets having an IslamicWill saves a lot of legal headaches and cost to the family. Without a will the state law will determine what happens to your property.

Your property will be distributed to your spouse and children or, if you have neither, to other relatives according to a statutory formula, NOT according to Islamic Sharia (law).
